A DCCI delegation of Supreme Coouncil Members, led by Tan Sri Dato Sri Celestine Ujang, DCCI Deputy President made a courtesy call on YB Datuk Joseph Salang Gandum, Chairman Yayasan 1 Malaysia Sarawak Advisory Council, a member of Parliament of Julau and also DCCI Advisor at 1 Malaysia Sarawak Advisory Council Secretariat, Kuching on the 7th January 2014. Mr. Dennis See, Project Director Yayasan 1Malaysia Sarawak explained the objectives and functions of Yayasan Rakyat 1Malaysia and Yayasan 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB), its mode of operations and successful implementations of projects it has undertaken in Sarawak since inception in July 2013.
1MDB’s core objective is to undertake projects financed by Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programmes provided by big companies with the involvement of the local community, towards the development and upgrading of their quality of life. Tan Sri Celestine Ujang, DCCI Deputy President proposed that 1MDB works out a strategic entrepreneur programme involving Dayak individuals and Class F contractors through soft skills training programmes towards enhancing mental aptitude and management skills, and upgrading of income. The role of 1MDB under this arrangement is to assist in funding the training costs for the participants who will be sourced from the Dayak business community.
1MDB is positive towards this proposition and looks forward to a meaningful and strategic partnership with DCCI. To start with Mr. Irwan Zulkarnain Hasbie, Council Member of 1Malaysia Sarawak Advisory Council and in charge of Capacity Building Programmes invited DCCI members to participate in an Entrepreneur Training Programme to be held in Kuching during early February 2014. DCCI will send participants to attend the workshop.
